Welcome to Threshold ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using Threshold, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you create an account, we may collect:

• Name and email address
• Date of birth (optional)
• Gender (optional)
• Faith journey stage
• Spiritual growth goals

Survey and Assessment Data

To help track your spiritual growth journey, we collect responses to optional surveys including:

• Emotional wellbeing indicators
• Behavioral patterns (answered voluntarily)
• Spiritual vitality assessments

All survey responses are optional and you may skip any question you prefer not to answer. Sensitive questions are clearly marked and completely optional.

Usage Data

We automatically collect certain information about your use of the app:

• Reading progress and streaks
• Session completion data
• Time spent in the app
• Device information (type, OS version)

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the Threshold service
• Personalize your experience and content recommendations
• Display your reading history and optional personal check-ins
• Send notifications and reminders (with your permission)
• Improve our app and develop new features
• Respond to your inquiries and support requests

Journals, photos, and optional transcription

Journal writing, saved passages, reading history, and photos you save are associated with your account in Firebase. Draft writing and session information may also be stored on your device so you can return to an unfinished practice. Your private journal and weekly recap are not automatically posted to a Circle.

If you choose AI transcription for a journal photo, the selected image is sent through Threshold to OpenAI to extract text. You can keep a photo without using transcription. Extracted text can contain mistakes; review it before relying on it.

Service providers

The app uses Firebase for account and app data, RevenueCat to manage subscription status, Amplitude for usage analytics, and Sentry for error reporting. Journal text, photo contents, and sensitive questionnaire answers are not intended as analytics event properties. Optional AI transcription uses OpenAI as described above.

Exports and deletion

A limited security record is temporarily retained after account deletion to prevent an existing sign-in from recreating deleted data.

Journal text export opens your device’s share sheet. You choose the destination and are responsible for the copy you export. Deleting your Threshold account does not remove copies you have exported or cancel an Apple subscription. Contact us for help with your data or account.

Website sample

The sample practice on this website runs in your browser. It does not request journal text, create an account, or send reflections to a server.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase, a Google Cloud service. We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Secure authentication
• Access controls and monitoring

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Sharing of Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With your explicit consent
• To comply with legal obligations
• To protect our rights and safety
• With service providers who assist in operating our app (under strict confidentiality agreements)

Circle Groups

When you join or create a Circle group, other members may see:

• Your display name
• Your reading streak
• Your recent activity (if you choose to share)

Your detailed survey responses and personal assessments are never shared with other Circle members.

Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Correct inaccurate information
• Delete your account and associated data
• Opt out of non-essential communications
• Export your data

Children's Privacy

Threshold is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
